A minute with the birds
I spend a great deal of my life inventing ways to do things. Today I discovered a quicker way to get to work when the freeway was backed up. And when the fridge was a bit empty of planned menu items, I foraged the shelves for those pine nuts. Add a bag of lettuce, a bit of basil from the garden, and some feta cheese and I had a kick-ass dinner salad. But after it all, the inventor’s hall of fame left me feeling pretty weary this evening. So I spent a minute with the birds. They give me a calm sort of feeling, like something in this universe knows how to follow some kind of regular rhythm. They believe that someone will supply food. I am jealous of their sense of trust.
